HOW TO MOVE A DOG TO A NEW HOME

If you are relocating to a new home and a dog is moving too, here’s a helpful resource you might want to check out.  Go to http://www.ehow.com/how 7154 move-dog-new.html and the guide that provides simple steps to help dogs make a smooth transition into their new home.

A few Safety Tips for children when they are around dogs:

*Keep children close at hand and never leave them alone with a dog, no matter how harmless the dog seems.  A young child may challenge or injure a dog unintentionally and the result could be tragic.

*Coach children how to behave around dogs and to respect them.  Remind them that what their own dog may tolerate from them may not be tolerated by other dogs.

*Even if a dog is crated or penned, teach children not to reach in and attempt to pet it.  This is a dog’s private space and he may feel threatened if it’s invaded.

*Never approach a dog’s food and water bowls and don’t let kids near them either.  Likewise, dogs should be separated from children with food.

Generally speaking, dogs are very friendly.  If they weren’t why would so many people relish in their companionship?  Still, it’s always wise to error on the side of safety, particularly when children and dogs are meeting each other for the first time.

Have a nice Spring and Early Summer.
